The serial on yours indicates it was made in 1957. Great find for such little money! The pickups on them are wonderful. I have 3 (I think) Supro lap steels, including one identical to yours. I would love to know the year, and the value and or its importance.Congratulations! Lap steels are very cool.

I am hoping to purchase a 1957 dual tone in white and black, and wondered what you tought would be a reasonable price for such a guitar, including the original case, in good condition. I know its vintage, and will perhaps never sell it, or ask the same of anyone I pass it on too. The owner said it was a SUPRO, it looked cool like a Goida, with a neo-plastic frame, and humbuckers, yet it needed electrical work.ĭoes anyone in the world know what I have, the owner said it is from the late 60s. Whatever it is you have, have fun with it In case youre not sure what a Valco string-through pickup looks like, heres a picture.

The pick-up plate is quite large, square with the tone control on the bass side of the strings (towards the player) and the volume control on the other. It has a 23 scale length (nut to bridge), and I guess it has one of those string through the middle pickups that the boys on the Forum have been talking about recently.
